About The Fund

Our mission is to support programs and activities with important impacts on the environment and urban life.
The Fund for the Environment and Urban Life (“The Fund”) was established in 2006. Our annual budget is approximately $500,000. The gifting strategy is to focus on innovative projects that have strong potential for replication in other settings, or otherwise have significant impacts in the environment and urban life fields, and especially where the two intersect. We seek to leverage the impact our very limited resources. In this way, it is hoped that path-breaking initiatives and results can be achieved, and that broad communications about the results might be obtained. To supplement the existing financial resources from its founders, The Fund welcomes contributions from parties sharing The Fund’s vision. The Fund is an IRS-approved private non-operating foundation; contributions are tax-deductible. Contributions will be applied 100% to grants; our administrative costs are fully funded.
